Tastespotting is no more

Looks like due to some sort of legal issues, popular foodie website Tastespotting has been taken down.

Anyone know any more information?

Added June 17: A ‘temporary tastespotting’ has been created, for those looking for a fix. Just check out Food Gawker.

I’ve been wondering the same thing and haven’t come up with anything yet. If I find something out, I will let you know!

I found out that is has something to do with copyrighted pictures. yesterday canada implemented new copyright laws to update our 98 year old current copyright laws that did not refer to any kind of shared digital media.

This really sucks though it was my favourite website and I only discovered it a couple of months ago.

Kristina: Canada didn’t actually update copyright laws yesterday, they just proposed some changes. Also, Tastespotting is not Canadian or run on Canadian servers, so those copyright issues wouldn’t really come into play.

Regarding Tastespotting: What I have heard since posting this entry is it was not due to copyrighted photos or anything of that sort, but was another legal matter. Of course, we can all only speculate. Hopefully the real story will come out.

What are you talking about Canadian Law applies to everyone around the world! In Canada, US (excluding Gitmo, apparently no laws apply there), Europe and the Moon.

Hopefully we can find out what is going down with tastespotting. It was a great site for meal ideas
